Monique de Haas (pioneer in the field of crossmedia/transmedia):
The added value of communication that crosses/transcends media:
In order to survive we need to communicate. This has always been. What is changing is the enormous amount of means and choices to communicate. The way we interact with media and information is undergoing profound changes
So what is crossmedia/transmedia communication?
The bouncing heart of crossmedia communication is a story that invites you to get involved, to cross-over from one form of connection to the story, from presence in one medium onto the next one. Thereby changing the communication from one dimensional to more dimensional. Value is added trough:
A more layered story, opening up multiple levels to connect to the story. The design is user centred, the layers and levels need to be relevant to the user. For it is a two- and even multi-dimensional flow, where it is not only the producer of a story that is creating these dimensions, but users as well have gained the power to co-create.
The driving force to connect, get involved and move through several levels (as a user may choose to do so) lies in the power of the story an how it is able to touch upon the lives of its’ users.
If you give people the means to collaborate, consultate and to co-create in a story that adds true value and meaning to the stories of their lives, you will be rewarded with an intensified connection.
Our vision
“Some people think we are made of flesh and blood..
Scientist say we are made of atoms.
But actually we are made of stories!
If we die, this is what remains, the story of our lives and the stories we have shared with others.
There have always been stories.
What will change is the way we are able to consume, interact, participate and even become a living part of stories in a meaningful way”
